Looking for Adventure this Summer?

Here's 5 Events You Don't Want to Miss this Summer:
Nesting season at the Native Bird Rookery & Swamp - Peak Nesting Season from March to June:
Native wading birds flock to our alligator-filled swamp because they're protected. These species of birds find bodies of water with alligators (or other crocodilian species) to build nests and to roost above (aka rest overnight) because the alligators will keep out predators like raccoons, rats, and opossums. Those smaller predators will destroy an entire nest and all of the baby birds in it, whereas the alligators will wait under the nest for the weakest bird to be pushed out. Thus, protecting the nest and the stronger baby birds inside.
Our Native Bird Rookery & Swamp is popular with photographers because of the incredible experience and closeness to the birds and their nests. We offer the Photographers Annual Pass, which gives the passholder exclusive access to the Rookery before and after regular hours, as well as the Photo Contest and all of the benefits of the annual membership: available on our website here.
